Throughout my career in education, I have led transformative initiatives in management, leadership, and mentoring. From accreditation to curriculum innovation and technological integration, my work reflects a commitment to fostering growth and driving meaningful change in schools and communities. Below are key highlights of my experience.

Accreditation Management
I have experience successfully guiding an independent school through the UMALUSI process to full accreditation and maintaining this status throughout my tenure. I have also assisted numerous principals within our independent circle in achieving similar accreditations. Additionally, I possess a strong working knowledge and experience in whole-school evaluation from my time in state schooling, during which I actively drove the process.
Managing Change and Related Policies
As the head of various groups of school managers, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams that tackled challenging changes in education and society. My extensive experience includes preparing and maintaining policies related to the change and functioning of schools. Integral to this is fostering working relationships between teams and oversight bodies.
Speaking, Hosting, and Mentoring
As a passionate public speaker, I’ve had the opportunity to address audiences at working conferences and training seminars. My topics have ranged from teaching specific subjects to various management matters. Throughout the majority of my years in education, I’ve actively participated in the facilitation of educators and served as a teacher trainer. Mentoring has been a particular passion of mine, yielding significant fruits over time.

The slideshow presented here was crafted in PowerPoint and then embedded using a well-known educational design software package. Utilizing HTML5, it enables seamless embedding on site pages across a diverse range of platforms.
Managing Curriculum and the Changes Over Time
Having started my career with the Nated 550 curriculum still being taught, I have had the good fortune to be a facilitator and trainer of all the iterations and new approaches since then, particularly in subject matter and the driving philosophy of the various approaches.
Encouraging Educators to Embrace Changes in Technology
I’ve consistently adapted to evolving technology and the fourth industrial revolution. Supporting educators in this journey and fostering skills in our school community has been a priority. Regarding admin systems, I developed functional databases and admin systems, ensuring seamless operations.

Staff training was arranged in the school computer lab. The entire staff was trained and mentored.

Developing and Maintaining Infrastructure
In my educational journey, I’ve successfully established functioning laboratories at two schools. Additionally, I oversaw the implementation of a school IT network as a recent project. This network enabled streaming, facilitated multiple class teaching, and provided full data access for all staff and learners. Particularly during the pandemic of 2020, this infrastructure proved invaluable in seamlessly integrating our online concept classes.
Instructional Design and Edtech.
My passion for online education began as a principal, where I developed an online instruction framework. Since then, Iβve specialized in adult education and instructional design, gaining expertise in LMS platforms like Moodle, Rise 360, Canvas, and Blackboard. A key project includes creating a Moodle site for a child safeguarding initiative, now hosting courses through Sentinel Safeguarding, where I actively promote learner safety.
This short H5P interactivity was used in an online teacher training course to explore the responsible use of AI in education. AI can enhance learning, but teachers must use it wisely by understanding its limits, respecting privacy, and promoting fairness. Itβs a tool to support problem-solving and creativity while maintaining control and teaching values like curiosity and ethics. See the image below.
I have expanded my focus to include andragogy, adapting online learning for adult education as well. In my most recent professional experience, I have worked as an educational specialist and instructional designer, first with a government department, later with a corporate organisation, and as a freelancer.
I have developed a fully functional Moodle site, which is already hosting courses that we are rolling out as freelance and independent developers.
